Weller

The Weller brand is a renowned name in the world of bourbon whiskey, known for its distinctive wheated bourbon recipes. Founded by William Larue Weller in 1849, the company initially operated as a wholesale whiskey dealer and distiller. Weller is credited with pioneering the use of wheat in bourbon mashbills, creating a smoother and softer whiskey that became known as wheated bourbon. The brand's history is intertwined with that of Pappy Van Winkle, who later acquired the company and merged it with the Stitzel Brothers to form the Stitzel-Weller Distillery. Today, Weller is owned by the Sazerac Company and is produced at the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The brand offers a range of expressions, including the 12-year-old, Special Reserve, and the experimental Daniel Weller series, each showcasing the rich legacy and innovative spirit of William Larue Weller.
