ITE

ITE, which stands for Inverse Time Element, is a historical brand in the electrical industry known for its innovative contributions to circuit breaker technology. Founded in the 1890s in Philadelphia, PA, by the Cutter Electrical and Manufacturing Company, ITE initially specialized in electro-mechanical circuit breaker trip devices. The company's most significant innovation was the creation of the first stored energy low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers, as well as the first 5 kilovolt (kV) air magnetic circuit breakers. Over the years, ITE underwent several mergers and name changes, including becoming ITE Imperial and eventually being acquired by Siemens AG in 1982. Despite its evolution, ITE remains synonymous with technical innovation and engineering excellence in the electrical distribution equipment sector.
